With strong musical roots firmly entrenched from his rhythmic Colombian culture, Miguel began studying Afro-Cuban percussion under Master Percussionist Michael Duffy(La Tribu) in Austin, Texas in the late 90’s. Miguel is a founding member of Kozmonix who has shared the stage with such acts as Dubtex and Grupo Fantasma, and he also collaborated with Chango Jackson for a string of live performances. Some of Miguel’s heaviest influences are Sunny “Domingo Ortiz, Armando Peraza, Jose “Chepito Areas, Raul Rekow, Karl Perazzo, Giovanni Hidaldo and Poncho Sanchez.

Miguel has always strived to incorporate the traditional playing style of the congas, bongos and timbales into all genres of music. Miguel’s most recent project, Open House, allows him to rhythmically accent today’s best Electronica House music with his tribal-latin-soul-funk beats.
